WORLD Cup final referee Howard Webb took charge of the whistle at a crunch local derby - between a police team and staff from a Sheffield school.
It wasn’t exactly Spain versus Holland but a big game all the same, part of the official launch of Sheffield Springs Academy’s new all-weather sports pitch.
The pitch is constructed from state-of-the-art 3G matting and was officially opened by Coun Julie Dore, council leader and a long-serving governor at the academy.
Julie and Howard also enjoyed a special lunch and reception with academy principal Jane Miles and sixth form sports students.
The police team was made up of officers from the Manor and Arbourthorne Safer Neighbourhood Team.
