A school’s solar panel project – to help it cut energy costs – could be the first of many renewable schemes.
Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School’s £55,000 work is the first community energy scheme to be developed as part of the Dearne Valley Eco Vision project.
John Healey, Labour MP for Wentworth and Dearne MP and project chairman, said: “I’m proud of our programme, it is the leading one in the country.
“Our schools and children have got behind what we are trying to do in creating a new, low-carbon future for our area. I hope this scheme will be the first of many.”
Sheffield Renewables is part of the scheme.
