A former Westfield School pupil who went on to become a pilot with the Red Arrows has been honoured with a national award.
Steve Morris has been commended on the Association of College’s 2013 gold awards roll of honour as an acknowledgement of his remarkable achievements .
The 31-year-old studied A-Levels at Sheffield College before attending Sheffield University and then joining the Royal Air Force.
Steve, who joined the Red Arrows last year and flies as Red 5, said: “There’s no doubt my time at college helped me get to where I am today and I appreciate the support and guidance that I received.
“Joining the Red Arrows is quite literally a dream come true.”
College chief executive Heather MacDonald said: “I am proud of Steve’s achievements. What an inspirational role model he is, showing how hard work and commitment and the support ohave helped him achieve great things.”
