High hopes of young falcons as hatching date nears

Have your say

Young peregrine falcons could soon soaring over Sheffield as four eggs in a city centre nest are on the verge of hatching.

Peregrines successfully bred for the first time in the city in 2012 after a nest platform was erected on the side of Sheffield University’s St George’s Church lecture theatre, off Broad Lane.

Another four eggs were laid in late March – and are due to hatch any day now.
