YOUNGSTERS from three primary schools in Armthorpe have turned land near their schools into an allotment.
Shaw Wood, Tranmoor and Southfield primary schools have been working to create the allotment since they bought the land, near Southfield Primary, together in 2009.
The £5,000 price paid had been won in a competition called Make IT Happen, for schools using computers creatively.
The schools’ MP, Rosie Winterton, attended the official opening of the allotment and said: “Students from our three Armthorpe primary schools did so well in the Make IT Happy competition, winning the regional final.
“It’s great to see them putting the prize money to such good use.
“Every year I encourage Doncaster schools to enter this competition, not just because it gets students to use their technology skills but because it brings benefits to the wider community, just like this allotment.”
