SCHOOLCHILDREN are getting the chance to meet an Olympic gold medal winner when he pays them a visit next Friday.
Sir Steve Redgrave will be at Prince Edward Primary School, on City Road, Sheffield, to take part in an afternoon of sports and chat to pupils about his experiences at the Games.
The rower won gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000.
Redgrave also won gold three times at the Commonwealth Games and nine gold medals at the World Rowing Championships.
The event has been organised through the Sporting Promise scheme, run by clothing chain Matalan, which supports sport and PE activity in schools.
The firm hopes around 10,000 schools will have signed up by the end of 2013.
