SHEFFIELD schoolgirls Mia Carter and Lucy Buchanan proved that science isn’t just for boys when they won prizes in a national competition.
The 11-year-olds from Ashdell School in Broomhill won Leaders’ Awards for their work in science, technology, engineering and maths classes.
The idea is to give youngsters the chance to discover more about careers in those subjects by encouraging them to talk and engage with professionals working in the field.
Both had to carry out interviews with experts in scientific and engineering.
One of the prizes was a trip to London to enjoy afternoon tea with Princess Anne.
Their teacher Heidi Wragg said it was a fantastic achievement for both girls and everyone was extremely proud of their efforts.
