TWO South Yorkshire colleges are offering people the chance to get a free, recognised qualification through the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Dearne Valley College and Barnsley College are hosting a two-day accredited introduction to environmental sustainability level two qualification for anyone aged 19 or above who lives in a coalfield ward in Barnsley, Rotherham or Doncaster.

Working in conjunction with the Dearne Valley Eco-Vision and the trust, the course is an introduction to sustainability and offers students a way of reducing their energy bills.

A DVC spokesman said the training could help people get a job, advance their career or gain further qualifications - as well as give tips on saving energy around the home.
