DIG this – two former students were invited to play a starring role in the demolition of an old Sheffield Hallam University accommodation block.
Elizabeth Thompson, who studied geography and textiles at the then Polytechnic, lived in Marshall Hall when it was brand new in 1965.
Kay Jordan called the hall home too while studying English and religious knowledge.
Both women were invited to have a go in the digger as the block on the Collegiate Crescent campus began to be pulled down.
The area is being substantially renovated as part of a £25 million project called Heart of the Campus.
