A NEW mentoring scheme launched by Sheffield University is helping youngsters raise their game at school.
The US in Schools initiative gives pupils the opportunity to receive one-to-one help and in-class support from talented students currently studying at the university.
The project seeks to reinforce the idea that going to university is a viable option for everyone who has the potential to study at higher education level, irrespective of their social or economic background.
Pupils from Sheffield Springs Academy in Arbourthorne visited the university campus as part of the scheme to gain an insight into life as an undergraduate.
The youngsters were given a special guided tour around the original university building, Firth Hall.
