A UNIVERSITY student from India has teamed up with a Sheffield hospitality business as part of her post-graduate project.

Pritee Gaikwad, who is studying for an MBA at Sheffield University and comes from Hyderabad, will be analysing hospitality industry marketing trends and majoring on the potential impact and benefit of social media in the hospitality sector.

She is working with Sheffield firm Fretwell Downing, which owns the Maynard in Grindleford and Whirlowbrook Hall.

Pritee said: “What I will be trying to ascertain in my thesis is the current and future impact of social media and how this can impact positively on the bottom line of hospitality businesses like Fretwell-Downing.”

Professor Anthony Fretwell-Downing, chairman of Fretwell-Downing, said: “We have forged close relationships with both universities in Sheffield, which sit on an incredibly talented pool of people.

“Students need the experience and access to real business challenges.

“For our part we are keen to harness new technologies and fresh ideas that will move the business forward.

“So the opportunity for us to work with such a promising MBA student is a win-win for everyone and we wish Pritee well with the project and with her remaining studies.”
