Final year Sheffield Hallam University students have raised almost £10,000 for national and regional charities – just by filling in a survey.

For every student who completed the 2012 National Student Survey, the university donated £2 to Hallam Union’s selected charities.

The £9,746 raised will be shared equally between four charities nominated by the union’s fundraising committee, Raise and Give.

The charities are Dinnington based young runaways’ charity Safe@Last, Sheffield’s Domestic Abuse Outreach Service, Water Aid and the British Heart Foundation.

The NSS allows undergraduates to give feedback on their university experience.

The results are used to identify improvements that need to be made for the next generation of Hallam University students.
