Scores of children across Doncaster are set to compete in a new challenge aimed at improving the fitness of primary age pupils.

The title of ‘Doncaster’s Fittest Primary School’ is up for grabs, and every primary school is invited to enter a Year 5 or year 6 class in the borough-wide competition.

Each class to enter will receive their own specially-designed challenge to tackle during their weekly PE lesson.

James O’Neill, Managing Director of local company Xcite Sports and Fitness, who have launched the initiative, said: “With frequent news stories highlighting issues concerning the health and fitness of young people, this event will provide a perfect opportunity for them to not only see their fitness levels improve but most importantly develop a passion to continue keeping fit and healthy.”

The recording of results will take place between February 15 and March 18.

Xcite offers all schools a free training session from their qualified PE Specialists in preparation for their bid to take the title of fittest primary school. All schools wishing to take part should contact James on 07851046611 or email james@xcitesportsandfitness.org
