STAFF at a South Yorkshire children’s centre are celebrating a successful Ofsted report.
Dodworth and Gilroyd Children’s Centre was visited by Ofsted over two days. Inspectors found it was a satisfactory centre improving rapidly.
“A majority of families in the area engage with the appropriate health services and show an increasing understanding of how to keep themselves healthy,” the report said.
“They learn how to provide nutritious snacks and family meals, and their children enjoy tasting different foods.”
They found children experience routines during sessions such as ‘Ready Steady Play’ that help them get ready for full-time school.
Families using the centre in Barnsley told inspectors they felt safe and relaxed there.
The Ofsted report said: “Staff are quick to offer support and guidance and to help parents move forward no matter what problems they face.
“One parent who became a volunteer praised the centre’s work saying, ‘It opened up life-changing choices’.”
