YOUNGSTERS from a Doncaster school have asked their MP why they cannot vote until they’re 18.

Pupils at Hungerhill School asked visitor Rosie Winterton why 16 and 17-year-olds could not vote, after she visited the school in Edenthorpe for a question and answer session.

She said: “One of the questions asked was about votes for 16 and 17-year-olds - I told the group I supported that principle.

“A 16-year-old has to pay tax and can even join the Armed Forces so I think it’s only right they should be able to vote.”
