A Chesterfield primary school found to have substandard teaching and low levels of achievement has been failing its pupils.

Inspectors placed Newbold Church of England Primary in special measures to address weaknesses in teaching, learning, leadership and staff training.

An action plan has been put in place and staff and governors are now working with Derbyshire County Council to raise standards.

Headteacher Canon David Mayo-Braiden said: “We have drawn up a plan addressing each issue the inspectors highlighted.”
