Education gives purpose to life

Apprenticeships gave many a brilliant start in life but that was in the days when industry was at its height and firms could confidently commit to years of training and the trained were almost certainly guaranteed a job.

Today, the nature of work has changed. For many, academic achievement is the key to employment. Sixth form colleges perform a vital role, assisting young men and women, from all walks of life, to fulfil their potential.

Many ex-pupils of Yewlands School have gone on to sixth form college and university. No doubt Chaucer School boasts the same.

For pupils and parents this climb is often a financial struggle but they sacrifice in the knowledge that further education concentrates the mind, gives purpose to life and hope for the future steering the otherwise aimless from trouble.
