South Yorkshire wants to feel proud of its police force and is desperately keen to help create a more positive future.
That was very clear at our Force for the Future debate with BBC Radio Sheffield, which you’ll have read about on the front page.
It was great to see so many people so passionate about the service.
They were worried about its future, annoyed about many elements but united in giving the new Chief Constable their full support.
In fact it was particularly interesting that members of the public did not want the force to automatically take blame and be defensive. They wanted the chief to make sure people know more about the much good work taking place and to tell the world just how hard being a police officer is today.
There were plenty of mixed opinions but unity in wanting our police force to succeed.
This debate was just the first in a series of events we are working on with our BBC colleagues to help drive Sheffield forward and get people talking.
