Plans to deliver a refurbished post office in a Doncaster village have been welcomed by the area’s MP.
Moorends Post Office, on Marshland Road, will be closed for nine days next month while it is upgraded.
It will have a new look and longer opening hours when it re-opens on Friday, November 1.
The change is part of the Post Office’s plans to modernise its network of branches and extend opening hours.
Doncaster North MP Mr Miliband has stamped his approval on the changes.
He said: “This post office is vital to the community in Moorends and I am confident the improvements will be warmly welcomed by my constituents.
“The extended weekend opening hours make it even more convenient for customers to carry out their Post Office transactions.”
The branch will close at 5.30pm on Tuesday October 22.
During that time alternative post offices can be found at Thorne Post Office, 12 Market Place, Thorne, DN8 5DP, or South Common Post Office, 58 Miller Lane, Thorne, DN8 5NB.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager, said: “Our aim is to create a more modern and convenient retail experience for customers that will include longer opening hours.
“Posters will now be displayed in branch so customers are aware of the changes and leaflets will also be available containing more information.”
The new-look branch will include car tax renewal service.
