A GRANT of over £77,000 to install air sourced heat pumps in 34 properties which cannot have gas central heating has been awarded to Barnsley Council and Berneslai Homes.
The money is from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, which put £10m towards a second Renewable Heat Premium Payment Social Landlords competition. The 34 properties chosen are in Hood Green, Bolton on Dearne, Dunford Bridge, Carlecoates, Wortley and High Hoyland.
This competition was run by the Energy Saving Trust and was open to key providers of social housing including local authorities, charities, private companies and partnerships.
Berneslai Homes’ Director of Assets Stephen Davis said: “We’re really pleased we have been awarded this funding.”
