TWO Sheffield students have cycled from the Steel City to Stuttgart in aid of two charities.

Rob Thornton, aged 25 and Dave Hayden, 21 of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, set off on the 1,367 kilometre trip from Sheffield and arrived in Stuttgart 13 days later.

The duo have raised £876 to be split between Cancer Research UK and Engineers without Borders.

Rob Thornton, a Postgraduate researcher at Sheffield University said: “It was a hugely rewarding yet exhausting experience. We hope the money raised will make a difference to the two charities we’ve chosen.”

Dave, an undergraduate at Sheffield begins his year in industry in Frankfurt in September.
