A SONGWRITING duo are hoping one of their compositions could be recorded after entering a contest for over-40s.
Two ballads written by pals Jon Fisher, of Doncaster, and Steve Shirland from Eckington are fighting for victory in the BBC Radio 2 Oldie Composers competition.
They have been writing together for years under the name Hum Music Productions, practising in Steve’s garage, after starring in band Jeremiah Vain.
Jon, 40, said: “It would be fantastic to win. Having our own record released is something we’ve always dreamed of.”
The pair’s songs - a step away from their usual pop rock style - have made it into the final 50 entries in the oldie competition, which raises money for charity Barnardo’s. To vote for Jon and Steve, visit www.oldiecomposers.com/index.html
