AN RSPCA search of a house in Worksop led to a man being jailed for possessing drugs.

Mel Gibson, aged 21, of Shrewsbury Road, had his home searched by the RSPCA and police as part of an investigation into allegations of animal cruelty - and 30 bags of cocaine were found.

Gibson pleaded guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply during a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court, and was jailed for three years and six months.

In August, Gibson was given a 12-month conditional discharge and banned from keeping dogs for five years by magistrates after admitting causing unnecessary suffering to his pet dog by failing to get its injuries treated by a vet.
