Drug sniffer dogs patrol streets

DRUG sniffer dogs have been used on the streets of Stannington, Hillsborough and Upperthorpe in Sheffield to look for people with illegal substances. Police said they found a small number of people in possession of cannabis and the dog patrols will be repeated.

In a separate case, a man has been charged with producing and supplying cannabis following a raid on a house on Dykes Hall Road, Hillsborough. The 49-year-old was arrested by officers who executed a search warrant at the property.

POLICE are hunting a man seen using bright orange bolt croppers to cut through a lock to steal a bike parked at Hillsborough Corner. He was white, in his 40s, 5ft 9ins tall and had short dark hair spiked in the middle. The culprit was wearing a short black jacket, jeans and trainers and was seen with a pair of bolt croppers.

A LORRY burst into flames on Chesterfield Road, Shuttlewood, Staveley, after a boiler in the back caught alight. A Ford Mondeo was torched in Brightholmelee Lane, Wharncliffe Side, Sheffield. The fire was started late on Thursday night.

THIEVES in Sheffield broke into a greenhouse on the Meersbrook allotments and a shed on the Carrfield Road allotments. Garages on Spotswood Close, Gleadless Valley, and Abney Road, Gleadless Valley, were also been raided.
