Bus drivers have swapped their normal uniform for a splash of green as part of a national week to raise awareness of the environment.
Stagecoach’s South Yorkshire bus depot workers took part in events run by the firm across the country to ‘drive home’ the green message.
Activities included drivers in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, donning green attire instead of their normal work uniform in the hope of raising awareness of being more environmentally smart.
Yesterday, Stagecoach staff were in Sheffield city centre giving away environmentally-friendly torches and bags.
Paul Lynch, Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director, said: “Our drivers and staff love to get involved to raise awareness for a good cause.
“Our Green Week was a great way to encourage more people to travel more efficiently and think about choosing the bus as their mode of transport.
“Being green benefits us, our passengers and our environment. Stagecoach aims to keep its carbon footprint to a minimum and Green Week helps us to make people aware of the importance of being green.”
