Drivers warned Sheffield roadworks will cause delays

MAJOR routes around Sheffield are to be disrupted by roadworks over the coming weeks.

From tomorrow until May 31, Abbeydale Road South will have temporary traffic signals at the junction of Twentywell Lane, Totley, for water main works.

Barrow Road, Wincobank, will have temporary three-way lights at the junction of Tyler Street, while bridge maintenance takes place from today to Friday and next week from 10pm to 6am nightly.

Church Street, Ecclesfield, will have traffic signals at the junction of Mill Road for telecoms work from May 23 to 27.

City Road and Ridgeway Road will be temporarily one-way, out of the city between Eastern Avenue and Ridgeway Road, for tram rail replacement work from May 29 to 31. There will also be road closures after 10pm from May 23 to 26.

City Road has temporary traffic signals between Granville Road and Talbot Place for water main works daily at off-peak times until June 8.

Ecclesfield Road has traffic lights on a section in Chapeltown for renewal of gas mains between May 23 and June 3, while a stretch of the road in Shiregreen has lights for sewer work during off-peak times from May 23 to June 6.

Pinstone Street and Barker’s Pool will have temporary traffic management in place on May 22 while BT carries out manhole works.

Next weekend, there will be slip road closures and lane closures on Sheffield Parkway on Sunday morning, between Park Square and Prince of Wales Road junctions.

Motorists are warned to expect delays on the M1 between junctions 36 and 37, north of Sheffield, while survey works take place.
