Driver leaves scene of Sheffield crash

A driver left the scene of an accident in Sheffield last night after overturning his vehicle.

The crash happened at about 8pm on Fleury Road, Gleadless Townend.

Firefighters received a call saying a man was trapped in the vehicle, but when they arrived at about 8.15pm, they said there was no-one inside.

They found the car on its roof, after it had crashed into a parked vehicle and overturned.

Two crews from Sheffield Central station were on the scene until about 8.30pm.

Rotherham and Dearne crews freed a man trapped in a car shortly before midnight in another incident.

They removed after the crash at Burman Road, Wath-Upon-Dearne, Rotherham.

After arriving at 11.10pm and assessing the situation, they began to free him at 11.38pm. He was out of the car at 11.51pm.

Birley Moore firefighters were called to extinguish at bin chute fire on Shortsbrook Way at Halfway, Sheffield.

One pump put the fire out at about 8pm.

Elm Lane crews were on the scene of a car fire on Homestead Road, Parson Cross, for about half an hour last night.

They arrived at 11.45pm, and stayed until 12.15am to make sure the blaze was out.
