Driver killed in Barnsley crash named

A YOUNG driver killed in a car crash in Barnsley has been named as 22-year-old Ben Moore.

Ben, from Lundwood, died when his blue Peugeot 306 hit a lamppost after leaving Industry Road on the Carlton Industrial Estate, near the St Anne’s Drive junction.

Four passengers in the vehicle were also injured, including a 17-year-old girl who suffered life-threatening injuries, and a 16-year-old boy who sustained a broken thigh and pelvis. Both are being treated at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed pending further inquiries.

Witnesses to the crash, at 10.25pm on July 27, should call police on 101.
