A MOTORIST was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a head-on road smash on the A61 Sheffield Road, at Worsbrough Bridge, Barnsley.
The incident happened at 5.24am on Tuesday on the Birdwell side of the junction of Sheffield Road with Worsbrough Road.
A silver Vauxhall Vectra was travelling towards Barnsley on the wrong side of the road when it collided with a blue Ford Fiesta.
The Fiesta driver, a 42-year-old man, of Shafton, Barnsley, suffered cuts, bruising and pain to his chest.
The Vectra driver, a 42-year-old Barnsley man, suffered bruising and swelling to his right ankle.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to provide a urine sample and driving other than in accordance with a licence.
He was taken to Barnsley police station for questioning then released on police bail pending further enquiries.
