Drink drive arrest after Doncaster crash leaves pedestrian fighting for his life

A 29-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after a two-car crash in Doncaster on Saturday morning.

Police have arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit after a crash involving a black BMW and a black Vauxhall Corsa on Balby Carr Bank.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At around 5.45am, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a black BMW 520d, both travelling in the direction towards Hexthorpe, were involved in a collision on Balby Carr Bank, which resulted in a further collision between the BMW and the 29-year-old male pedestrian.

"The man was immediately taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"The 44-year old man driving the BMW and a 27-year-old passenger both sustained minor injuries.

"The BMW driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit.

"The 47-year-old woman driving the Corsa and two passengers, a man and a woman, suffered minor injuries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident, to please get in touch.
