A woman found dead in her Chesterfield home had suffered fatal head injuries - and her husband died from stomach injuries.

Police, who discovered the two bodies at an address in Walton Drive, Boythorpe, on Friday, named the couple as 60-year-old David Connaughton and his wife Julie, 57.

A police spokesman said: “Following a post mortem examination we can say the woman died as a result of head injuries and the man was found dead as a result of stomach injuries.”

Officers were called to the address after concerns were raised for one of the occupants, and police found two people dead inside the property.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Neighbour Peter Revill said: “They seemed a nice enough couple and in some respects they were perfect neighbours because they were very quiet and you never heard a noise from them.”
