A dopey duo were arrested by police – after their car came to a standstill in floodwater as they tried to escape cops in flood-hit Fishlake.

Police have revealed how the wanted pair ended up in both floodwater and hot water on Friday afternoon as their ‘rust riddled’ car came to a ‘soggy halt’ in the village which was deluged when the River Don burst its banks.

South Yorkshire Police Operational Support said on its Facebook page: “The dark coloured car that you can see at the top of the photo was spotted by one of our unmarked cars in Kirk Sandall, Doncaster.
