MORE than 200 children and their parents met Santa when the big man visited a city pub.
St Nick met youngsters at The Acorn Inn on Burncross Road, Burncross, where free mulled wine and mince pies had been laid on by landlord Nigel Blanchard.
The High Green Junior brass band entertained with Christmas carols and PC Peter Booth was there attending his last official engagement as Community Policeman for Burncross and Chapeltown before retiring.
On the Manor, limousines ferried old folk from Littledale Nursing Home to their Christmas party at The Gun pub on The Wicker.
The luxury limos pulled up on Prince of Wales Road after being donated for the day by the Co-operative in a gesture of seasonal goodwill.
Kath Sylvester, activities co-ordinator at the home, said: “It was a great do and they all loved it. When the limos arrived it was such a surprise for the residents.”
