A student chef from Doncaster is set to serve up success - after landing a job at one of the world’s swankiest hotels.
Doncaster College student Shila Ghale, a catering and hospitality student, has secured a four week placement at The Ritz in London.
The sought after placement will see first year student, Shila, 22 who lives in Intake with her parents, working in The Ritz’s professional kitchen and gaining experience of working in a high pressure environment whilst living in London.
To secure the placement Shila had to use her initiative and gain 40 hours work experience in her own time with local hospitality businesses.
Some of the placements she secured included Blyth’s Charnwood Hotel, Doncaster Racecourse and Martyn’s Famous Fish at Doncaster’s Fish Market.
Michelle Jackson, BTEC Level 4 catering and hospitality programme leader, said: “Shila is a determined individual who has shown promise and initiative from the outset of the course.
“The opportunity to spend four weeks working in an environment such as the Ritz is a fantastic chance for Shila to gain industry experience.”
