Doncaster Rovers get lippy for Comic Relief

THEY might have their noses out in front at the top of League One but now Doncaster Rovers have conk-ered another challenge.

The club’s players agreed to don bright red lipstick and red noses as part of feast of fundraising fun in aid of Comic Relief.

Stars such as club skipper Rob Jones, wing wizard David Cotterill and midfielder James Coppinger were among those entering into the spirit which saw the whole first-team squad taking on a whole new look with some super styling.

Local beauty expert Blondie, of Beauty by Blondie gave the Rovers aces a makeover at the club’s Cantley Park training ground in a bid to raise £4,000 for the charity which helps transform lives in both the UK and Africa.

Doncaster’s Rob Jones said: “We always love to support this charity and the players couldn’t wait to get their make-up on!“

Blondie said: “One in ten men in the UK wear make up, and I can’t think of a funnier way to raise money than seeing the Doncaster Rovers wearing their team colour on their lips.”

Doncaster Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “We are delighted to be working with Blondie in this unique fundraising challenge.

“The lads were great sports and I hope that everyone will support them by wearing red noses and red lipstick at the Rovers too.”

The League One club is no stranger to raising money for charity and last year fans helped to raise an enormous amount for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice when Doncaster’s One Direction star Louis Tomlinson brought his Three Horseshoes team to the stadium.

One Direction’s charity single for Red Nose Day has already hit number one across the globe, further boosting Comic Relief funds.

Log on to Doncaster Rovers with red lipstick to support Rovers’ fund-raising efforts.
