A Doncaster Rovers employee will be hoping to score success when she goes to great lengths for charity.

Abi Rodwell who works in the club’s communications department, will be biking all the way from London to Amsterdam as part of a charity cycling challenge - despite recently undergoing two operations on her foot.

She will join a host of other Football League representatives for the challenge in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Abi said: “It’s definitely going to be a challenge that’s for sure.

“Before I started training I hadn’t ridden a bike in over ten years but I’m actually really looking forward to it.

“I’ve never done a fundraising event before and I’m really pleased to be raising money for such an amazing cause.

“I’ve raised over £1,600 for Prostate Cancer which is so much more than I ever thought I’d get.

“It’s not been easy. I’ve had two ankle surgeries since October which have set me back slightly but I’m finally fit and can’t wait to get to London and get started. It will definitely go down as a massive achievement for me.”

Representatives will gather at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium in East London on June 12 for the third L2A and hope to raise over £250,000.

The peloton will head out of London before stopping off at Colchester United’s Weston Homes Community Stadium for refreshments.

After completing the 83 mile ride to Harwich by dusk, the team will cross the Channel overnight, before riding a further 62 miles along the pristine pathways of the Netherlands, culminating in a finale at the Amsterdam Arena.
