Doncaster racegoers urged to wear purple for Sheffield hospital

Those at Doncaster racecourse on June 3 are urged to wear purple outfits in support of the specialist cancer hospital.

As part of the racecourse’s Music Live programme, Red Dwarf star and well-known DJ Craig Charles will play a set at the meeting.

Tickets for the event are now available to buy for £15, giving guests reduced entrance to the grandstand plus entrance to the live music performance later in the evening.

Racegoers who wear purple stand a chance of winning Leger festival tickets, with prizes available for the for best dressed male, female and couple.

Business Development Manager, Darren Hayes, from the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “We really want people to join us for our first ever race evening and dress in purple to support our corporate colours.

“The cancer charity uses the colour purple for most of its branding and merchandise as well as within Weston Park Hospital so it will be fantastic to see racegoers supporting our cause in this way on the day.

“As our first ever race evening, we really hope people will go all out for this exciting event and help raise money for life-changing projects within Weston Park Hospital.

“Whether it’s a purple tie or hat, any splash of purple will mean racegoers are in with the chance of winning Leger tickets for later in the year.”

All profits from tickets purchased directly through the cancer charity website will benefit thousands of cancer patients across the region.

The charity needs to raise over £2 million this year to enable the funding of committed and new projects.
