A leading Doncaster pizza takeaway is set to begin talks with a major UK supermarket brand - in the hope of getting a slice of the action by selling its products on its shelves.

Red Tomato, which is based in Thorne Road, Wheatley, has begun discussions with an unnamed chain about the deal along with a host of other pizza manufacturers from across the UK.

Owner Parviz Hayati said: “Red Tomato has been asked to join a handful of top UK pizza makers to work with a multi international pizza manufacturer to introduce a new range of pizzas for one of the major supermarket clients.

“We are humbled and really excited about this challenge. You never know, you may see some of our pizzas appear on your local supermarket shelves soon.”

The takeaway has won a number of leading pizza and pasta industry awards over the years.
