Members of Atherton Godfrey’s Clinical Negligence Team will this weekend head to Brighton to take part in a national conference that aims to ensure justice for the victims of medical accidents.

The two-day event, organised by Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA), brings together clinical negligence experts and medical professionals from around the UK to examine the latest developments and to share best practice.

AvMA is an important force in promoting justice and has provided advice and support to over 100,000 victims of medical accidents. For over 30 years, it has campaigned to bring about changes that benefit the injured and has managed to move patient safety higher up the agenda in the UK. The creation of organisations such as the National Patient Safety Agency is a result of their work.

John McQuater, partner and head of litigation at Atherton Godfrey, said: “It is crucial that clinical negligence lawyers remain at the cutting edge of this highly complex field of law.

“These conferences are a valuable resource in helping to meet our aim of ensuring that the injured continually receive the very best legal support available and that their case has the best possible outcome.”

This year’s conference delivers a packed programme and examines the latest developments in areas including cardiology, retinal eye disease surgery, maternal injuries, gastric band surgery, treatment of Thromboembolic disease, brain injury in the critically ill new born, lower limb trauma, Neuro-intensive care, ambulance standards of care and negligence in midwifery.
