A shed fire spread to the outside of a home in a late night arson attack.

The blaze happened in Edith Terrace, Sunnyfields, at 11.50pm on Tuesday night.

The flames spread from a shed to the roof of a conservatory and a back door.

Nobody was in the property at the time and a neighbour raised the alarm.

Crews from Doncaster and Adwick fire stations spent an hour tackling the blaze.

A fire brigade spokeswoman said the blaze had been started deliberately.

Elsewhere, a pile of rubbish went up in flames on land at Instone Terrace, Askern, on the same evening.

Firefighters from Askern Fire Station were called to the scene at 8.30pm and spent 30 minutes putting the flames out. No cause was given.
