Optima International has chosen St John’s Hospice as their charity of the year - a move which underlines the support the Doncaster company has given St John’s for a number of years.
Last year the St John’s Hospice Development Appeal received an incredible £5,800 donation from Optima International, which was raised at their third Annual Fun Day. This brings the total so far raised by Optima to a stunning £12,000.
The date for this year’s fundraiser is set for July 25th and staff are already planning the event, hoping to make it even bigger and better than last year’s.
Mike Spiller of Optima International, the UK’s leading manufacturer of welded and looped wedge wire, said: “We are delighted to continue our support for the Hospice. Every year the team here at Optima put in a huge amount of time and effort to make the Fun Day special. I am very proud of them and also to be helping such a respected and important service in our community.”
Mel Hewitt, Community Fundraiser for the hospice said: “Mike and all the team at Optima have contributed so much to the hospice, not just with the Fun Day and the money raised, but with their continued enthusiasm and commitment to all that we are trying to do. I am delighted they have decided to name us as their charity of the year.”
The St John’s Hospice Development Appeal aims to raise £500,000 towards a £1.8 million redevelopment of the Doncaster-based hospice. It will see the hospice on Weston Road, Balby, completely renovated to provide a modern, welcoming, comforting and supportive environment for Doncaster’s patients facing a life-limiting illness, along with their families, carers and friends.
