A CYCLIST has died after he was involved in a collision with a van in Skellow, Doncaster.

The 21-year-old man from Burghwallis was been taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he is being treated for head injuries, but died yesterday despite the efforts of doctors.

Police are investigating the incident, and believe the man was thrown from his bike into the road after colliding with a Ford Transit van.

Officers say the van had been driving along Skellow Road and collided with the bike as the rider exited Mill Lane, just before 6pm on Wednesday.

The Skellow Road junctions with Buttercross and Mill Lane were closed for three hours while emergency services worked.

Officers want to speak to the driver of a green vehicle that was seen leaving Mill Lane at the time of the collision, who may have information which could help.

Witnesses call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 892 of September 5.
