A selection of Doncaster businesses have donated prizes for a raffle that will put smiles on the faces of children in military families.
Combat Sport Fighting Championships (CSFC), Diamond Live Lounge and Coffee Urban amongst others have donated raffle prizes of which all the proceeds will go towards a Christmas party for all the children of 219 Transport Squadron 150 (Yorkshire Regiment RLC).
The reserve unit which has had personnel stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq will hold a fundraising race night on Saturday 11th October at its Scarborough Barracks base in Balby when the raffle will be drawn.
Some of the prizes that have been donated include a signed glove by Ultimate Fight Club fighter Danny Mitchell, tickets for the next CSFC UFC event on 27th September at the Doncaster Dome, a pair of tickets for any up and coming music event at the Diamond Live Lounge and a range of delicious offerings from Coffee Urban.
CSFC Promoter and Director of Diamond Live Lounge Dominic Gibbs said: “We are delighted to be supporting this fundraising drive and to be able to help raise money so the annual Christmas Party for the children of these inspirational soldiers can go ahead.”
Each year, the Christmas party gives the families of recruits the chance to celebrate Christmas whether their loved ones are at home or been sent on missions abroad. A grotto is built, Christmas presents are purchased and a entertainer and Santa are on hand to initiate all the fun.
Captain Garnett of 219 Squadron said: “I would like to thank all the businesses that have donated prizes for our raffle. Every year we try to raise money to give our military children a great Christmas celebration and by the good will of Doncaster businesses it looks like it could be a festive season to remember for everyone at the barracks.”
The Squadron is still in need of more raffle prizes, if you would like to donate to the worthy cause please email email@example.com or call the barracks on 01302 853217.
