Doncaster burlesque dancer ‘died’ 36 times in a year

Have your say

A burlesque dancer from Doncaster has been classified as clinically dead by medics 36 times in one year - because of her rare heart condition.

Sara Brautigam’s life has been turned upside down by Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, which means her heart stops beating.

It can take between five minutes and half an hour for 21-year-old Sara’s heart to refill with blood and her body to come back to life.

Sara, of Kirk Sandall, once visited A&E 64 times in a year.

But the determined young woman, who once canoed for Great Britain, is determined not to let her health problems hold her back and wants to raise awareness about her condition.

Sara, who has joined a dance group, said: “Burlesque chair dancing has given me a new lease of life.”
