Doncaster Britain’s Got Talent star Alexandra Parker has announced her engagement in a YouTube video.

The electric violinist, a familar face on the local music scene, took to social media to reveal her happy news after boyfriend Lee Clothier went down on one knee to propose at a family gathering.

The 27-year-old posted on Facebook: “Lee and I are excited to announce that we are engaged to be married!!!

“On Sunday 11th October 2015, during a family celebration, Lee got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. There really are no words to describe the overwhelming joy that I feel.”

The musician, who appeared on the hit ITV talent show in 2011, later posted a video of the proposal on YouTube.

In the two minute clip, Mr Clothier told a crowded kitchen: “The people I care about most are all in one room. One person in particular I care about a lot is stood right there - Alex.

“I love Alex, I love her to the moon and back and when I met her, I knew I’d waited all my life to meet her. And I want my life to start right now.”

Mr Clothier, 43, then went down on one knee in front of excited guests and presented the performer with an engagement ring to cheers from those watching.
She excitedly squealed “yes” before the couple embrace.

She later posted the clip on the video sharing website and said: “Here’s the moment that the rest of my life began with the love of my life...Mr Lee Clothier. That’s right ladies, I’ve been performing at weddings for 13 years, and finally, it’s my turn to be a bride.”

She has been playing violin since the age of 11 and to gain performance experience, entertained as a busker in the streets of Doncaster from the age of 12.

Over the years she has performed as a musician at civil and church weddings since the age of 14 and appeared in the early rounds of Britain’s Got Talent four years ago.
