IT WAS the purr-fect pick-me-up for The Sheffield Cats Shelter - and it came courtesy of Pets at Home.

The team at Pets at Home, Heeley Retail Park, made a donation of £1,050 to the shelter which cares for Sheffield’s stray and abandoned cats.

Shirley Buckingham, a volunteer at the shelter in Travis Place, Broomhall, visited the store to pick up the cheque and she took along Tallulah, one of the many cats the shelter has rescued over the years.

The donation will be used to purchase new materials and cat kennels needed for the shelter’s garden area.

Nationally, Support Adoption For Pets, Pets at Home’s charitable foundation, has raised more than £1.3 million in the past 12 months thanks to the fund-raising efforts of Pets at Home staff and customers.

The money has been used to provide financial support to animal welfare charities.
