Our group has been concerned over the last few weeks that someone has been cutting the strapping and damaging posts of newly planted fruit trees next to the Thorncliffe pond.
We have had to replace the strapping and secure the posts on numerous occasions. We put the damage down to yobs but on Wednesday a member spotted a man aged 40-50 cutting the straps and kicking the posts. She challenged him from a safe distance because he was carrying something sharp and asked why he was doing it. He just shrugged and walked off. He was wearing a green wax jacket and dark trousers. The police have been informed, so if you know, or see this man do not approach him, call the police .

Labour ignores leader’s view
I’m confused over May’s referendum asking if we want to keep the elected mayoral system in Doncaster.
This is a national issue and nearly every town and city will be asked to adopt the system that Doncaster already has. Everyone, from the Prime Minister to Robin Tillbrook, the leader of the English Democrat party, of which our Mayor is a member, to Doncaster MP and leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband is giving their backing to the idea.
But Labour Doncaster councillors are ignoring Mr Miliband’s views, suggesting that Labour in Doncaster is split from the national party’s view.
Why should Doncaster spend up to £135,000 to vote on a system we already have and which could be adopted nationwide?
