Dog attacks warning

POLICE are warning dog owners to keep their pets under control after a string of separate attacks.

A man aged 49 was given a caution after a 37-year-old woman was bitten by a dog in a field off Chesterfield Road, North Wingfield, near Chesterfield.

A Japanese Akita had to be put down after two dogs were attacked in Rotherham Road, Killamarsh, leaving one pet dead and two people bitten.

And a 10-year-old boy had to be treated for a cut to his leg after he was bitten by a dog in Holestone Gate Road, Ashover.

Inspector Glenn Hoggard said: “It is an offence to allow a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place.”
