A FRAUDSTER who has been conning shops out of £10 notes in a cynical scam is being hunted by police.
The woman has visited shops claiming her husband was short-changed, and asking for the money owed. In one incident, she entered a sandwich shop on Redbrook Road, Gawber, Barnsley, and told a worker her husband had been in the day before, paid with a £20 note, but later realised he had been short-changed and was owed £10.
When staff told her the extra money wasn’t found in the till, she became agitated and was eventually given the sum as goodwill.
Police later discovered she had spun the same story in two other shops on the road in the same week, and may also have tried it in Barnsley town centre.
Anyone who recognises the woman in the picture should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting incident 459 of December 13.
