Do you dare to dip in chilly pool water?

Hathersage open air swimming pool is to open on New Year’s Day for its first ever cold water swim.

The chance to brave water heated to just 15 degrees will take place from 12.30pm to 3pm.

Many participants will swim a sponsored length in aid of The Richard Hill Memorial Fund. Sponsor forms are available from Peak Fruits in Hathersage or from Jo Wilman on 07904 717 770.

A limited number of wetsuits and hats will be available for hire on the day, and swimmers should take towels, warm clothes and blankets.

Spectators are invited to show their support.

Tickets are £5 for swimmers and spectators, from Peak Fruits, The Outside Shop or The Pool Cafe.

Hot drinks, soup and warm pasties will be available.

A family session starts at 12.30pm followed by lane swimming for more dedicated swimmers from 2pm.

The event is weather-dependent and will be re-arranged in the case of severe snow or frost. Call 01433 650 843 for on-the-day updates.
